The Fintona Rug

Originally Displayed at Grafton Gallery during London's Liberty Exhibitions in 1903, this carpet design artfully depicts the boughs of the giant hemlock in rich umbered reds, burnt sienna, camel, medium blue and blue gray on a ivory background.

These wonderful Arts and Crafts collection rugs are hand knotted in India using 100% wool imported from New Zealand. These carpets blend seamlessly with both English and American Arts & Crafts décor from Morris and Knox to Gustav Stickley and Frank Lloyd Wright.

Production ProcessAll of our carpets are hand knotted in Northern India on upright wooden looms reflecting a handcraft techniques dating back more than a 1000 years. The foundation of all our carpets is the warp and weft which are placed at right angles to each other providing a substantial grid foundation into which the wool yarn is knotted.

Knot Density and Weave QualityKnot Density is directly related to the complexity of design with large open patterns requiring fewer knots with more intricate patterns require more knots to reach the goal. A well made carpet. "Quality" is a term that embodies many things, but in carpets it speaks directly to the materials used such as 100% NewZealand Wool, Execution of design, use and placement of colors. With this emphasis on quality our carpets capture the essence of tne original Arts & Crafcts carpets, but also reach a life of 75 to 100 years throufgh proper construction.

Wool & DyesAll our carpets are woven with 100% New Zealand wool cleaned, carded, and spun into yarn which is infuse with Swiss Chrome Dyes which are color fast and consistent from dye lot to dye lot. Using the finest wool and dyes helps render consistent color values from size to size and to coordinate colors between various designs.
